Well, hello everybody. Now this first post is a freestyle topic so i'm going to talk you about the hardwork you got to make when you're thinking about a cinematographic idea.
To make you a little introduction. In the class of filmmaking we are doing fiction this year. And each semester all of the fellows are writing a potencial idea about a shortfilm that is going to be evaluate at the end of the semester as a final exam.
So i'm thinking about my idea and i got a kind of approaching, but it is far away to be complete. First i think that the chilean cinematography have to be responsible about the topics that the movies depict. In accordance with the context and all kind of unfairness of our society. So i make a little list about the things that seems to me be a problem in our society. This topics, i think, are things that are necessary to be talk, from a dialogue with a person, to a book, an organization against those injustices and also by a movie, or a shortfilm in this case.
And i write in my notebook problems like discriminations to inmigrants, to the LGBT people, to the black people. The corruption of the politics in the country, the evil system of pensions AFP, also the SENAME abusive system.
And saying that i'll tell you what i do to get more closer to my idea. I choose one of the topics and that was the AFP system like a huge topic. So i starter to select the things that made my interest. To make the topic more accurate. And from there i begin to think the characters and the situation of their lives. I got my principal character and is a old lady that is pensioned by disability. She has to live with an awful pension of $120.000 pesos, so she has to survive his everyday with his son that is close to the thirthy five years old. He's a loser in a few words.
The old lady and his son are victims of the capitalism system and the AFP system, and both are just invalidate persons for the function of the production system. So there is a big topic that has to be trim off to find the point of view of the shortfilm and be more accurated when is time to write about it.
Hope you like to read about this process of get near to a cinematographic idea.
This semester we are doing fiction too (but I am in the second year of the career) and I am trying to think in ideas for the 'pitch', but I do not have anything yet! Maybe I need to follow this system, so thank you for this post :)
